ATI and EarthX are excited to announce the winner and runner-up companies from the first annual (Virtual) EarthX Climate Tech Pitch Competition, held on April 22-24, 2020. The competition, launched in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, provided an opportunity for selected early-stage startups to pitch to a panel of investors for exposure and the chance to win $10K.
1st place winner rePurpose Global is the world’s first Plastic Credit Platform, rePurpose, a global movement of conscious consumers and businesses going plastic neutral. They make climate action simple for companies of all sizes by removing and recycling as much ocean-bound plastic waste as they produce while greening their product experiences to reach and retain purposeful consumers.
Our runner up was Phoenix, Arizona-based EnKoat, who make energy efficient wall coatings to reduce the heating and cooling costs of residential and commercial buildings. The wall coatings are synthesized using adaptive material technology tailored to the environment to maximize cost savings and minimize energy use.
In addition to the pitch competition, ATI and EarthX hosted the annual E-Capital Connection on April 24, at which nearly 90 investors and 90 startup companies met in over 300 one-on-one meetings. Although the shift to a virtual event due to COVID-19 presented challenges, it also enabled wider participation. This year’s E-Capital Connection more than tripled the number of participants and meetings of previous years.
