February’s Austin 21st Century Forum to Feature Chief Sustainability Officer

Curious what the City of Austin doing in the area of sustainability? Want to know more of how it’s supporting small businesses? Join the conversation February 16 with the Austin 21st Century Forum! The forum is a monthly breakfast that features speakers and a session for open discussion. Topics include the benefits, economic impact and opportunities for sustainable business practices.

Lucia Athens, City of Austin Chief Sustainability Officer, will speak about her department’s new priorities and the STAR Community Index, a triple bottom line approach to measuring sustainability performance for social, economic, and environmental attributes. Aiden Cohen, Solid Waste Services Department Program Manager, will speak about the city’s new Universal Recycling Ordinance and the city’s business outreach program that helps Austin businesses establish and expand their resource recovery programs.
