ATI Hosts Spring 3 Day Startup 2010 for Student Entrepreneurs

We are very excited to announce that we will host the 3 Day Startup 2010 this weekend on April 9-11 at the West Pickle Research Center (former MCC building).

From the official announcement: “ In a super-charged, highly caffeinated Project Runway-esque for techies atmosphere, 40 students from a range of backgrounds are divided into 5 teams and spend 72 hours brainstorming, selecting, prototyping, validating and finally launching actual companies in front of potential investors. The teams are comprised of computer science, business, law, advertising and marketing majors with a few wild card majors thrown into the mix. “A lot can be accomplished in three days, especially when sleep is optional,” says Bart Bohn, Director of ATI’s IT and Wireless Incubators. “Our goal is to transform the lives of the students who participate by imbuing core entrepreneurial skills that will serve them throughout their careers.”

To date, three companies were created as a result of 3 Day Startup (; Turn2Live ( – a mood-based live music search engine; Famigo ( – a platform and distribution network for mobile games for families; HippoBubble ( – educational software in the action adventure gaming genre. Co-founders of Famigo, Matthew Sullivan, a recent UT doctoral graduate, and Q Beck, a May 2010 McCombs Business School graduate, both passed on traditional job opportunities to develop their start up. “3DS gave birth to Famigo,” says Q Beck. “The program introduced the core team members to one another, led to our participation in Capital Factory and put us in touch with the local investor community.”

It looks like we have a fantastic weekend to look forward to, but it won’t happen without the help of the community! The program is still accepting sponsorships to cover expenses and donations of food and lots of energy drinks. Please contact Bart Bohn at
