This has some obvious environmental and geostrategic benefits – electric transportation can be cleaner, and electric vehicles reduce the need for imported oil. However, it also raises important, and potentially threatening, questions. How will electric vehicles impact the electric grid? What will be the relationship between EVs and distributed generation, such as rooftop solar?

Fifth Annual Clean Energy Venture Summit 2011
The Clean Energy Venture Summit hosts a business plan competition for start-up companies in their Series A through Series B financing stages that have breakthrough clean-energy technologies. The Summit gives early stage clean energy companies a chance to audition their technologies for inclusion in Austin's $29M smart-grid/smart-home demonstration project, backed by the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation and the City of Austin.
