CleanTX Forum: Austin's Rooftop Solar and Electric Vehicle Lead
Electric vehicles are becoming a larger part of America’s transportation mix. This has some obvious environmental and geostrategic benefits – electric transportation can be cleaner, and electric vehicles reduce the need for imported oil. However, it also raises important, and potentially threatening, questions. How will electric vehicles impact the electric grid? What will be the relationship between EVs and distributed generation, such as rooftop solar?
Austin is now home to the largest concentration of electric vehicles and rooftop solar in the nation: the Pecan Street, Inc. demonstration in the Mueller development, with almost 50 electric vehicles and 300KW of rooftop solar planned for the next 10 years, provides a unique opportunity to begin answering these questions.
Join us as the CleanTX Foundation provides a sneak peak into Pecan Street’s early learnings on this important topic and for a chance to meet the residents!
